Job Description

New Business (30%): Develop, manage and implement the sales and marketing strategies and processes required to identify, research, and recruit new events for the destination, resulting in increased hotel occupancy and economic impact for the region.  Responds to sales inquiries, initiates new sales, prospects and qualifies leads. Coordinate and conduct site visits with potential clients. Develops sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established room night goals. Identify and explore emerging markets. Stay current on competition, industry trends and best practices. Create customized, creative and detail-oriented proposals and other related documentation as required.

Existing Business (25%): Manage and cultivate relationships with existing clients. Assist clients in producing their events in such a way as to further GCCVB goals of room night generation and economic impact. Assist clients in writing and distributing press releases and relevant event information. Evaluate and make recommendations on grant funding requests based on room night utilization and economic impact. Coordinate with local industry partners and GCCVB staff to ensure client needs are consistently analyzed, anticipated and fulfilled. Work with GCCVB services staff to ensure event services are provided as needed and on time.

Partner Relationships (20%): Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, including hoteliers, facility managers, neighboring CVB’s, local event owners and media. Informs and engages local partners to solicit and provide assistance with sales initiatives. Identify, recruit, and encourage local partners who can influence clients on site decisions. Participate in industry and local organizations that best fulfill the mission and goals of the organization, as directed.

Reporting/Data Collection (10%): Evaluate and report on all assigned events for the Executive Director, GCCVB Board and Greene County officials. Prepare and distribute estimated economic impact reports for assigned events. Research and maintain inventory of area event venues and facilities. Maintain well-informed working knowledge of all related hotel, restaurant attractions and other partner facilities and services. Ensure information on all prospective and current clients, leads and facilities is entered and up to date in the GCCVB’s customer relationship management database. Assist in reporting for the GCCVB’s Annual Report.

GCCVB Support (5%): Collaborate with GCCVB staff in development and implementation of marketing plans. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned to maintain office efficiency; answering phones, preparing welcome bags, staffing visitor information booth, etc. Assist the Executive Director in the management of the GCCVB budget.

Travel (5%): Represent the GCCVB at industry related meetings, conventions, conferences and trade shows to develop relationships with potential clients and stay current on industry best practices.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of core course work for Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field with 36 mos. related experience and/or training in marketing, resource development, or public relations; valid Ohio Driver’s License.

Unusual Working Conditions

Predictable and regular attendance is required.

Stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
