President & CEO

Travel Butler County

The President/CEO of Travel Butler County (TBC) will achieve the mission of Travel Butler County through implementation of the strategic objectives determined by its Board of Directors. The President/CEO will lead Travel Butler County toward advancing its mission by creating new possibilities for project initiatives, fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and establishing partnerships.

The President/CEO will manage all operations and activities, including providing direction to staff and ensuring proper fiscal and operational management.

Reporting: The President/CEO reports to the Board. All other staff report to the President/CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic

  • Work with the Board in its regular strategic planning process and annual review of the strategic plan. Take the lead in drafting each new plan and in revising with the Board as necessary
  • Develop an annual implementation plan with Board input and review
  • Provide vision and strategic insight to the Board for fulfilling the mission of Travel Butler County utilizing input from multiple sources, including all staff members
  • Direct priorities for program activities in a manner that is consistent with the strategic plan
  • Identify new opportunities to leverage resources in an effort to maximize impact
  • Assess accomplishments and review failures, and report on them to the Board

Administrative

  • Assemble and manage the Travel Butler County staff; hire and terminate staff members as necessary
  • Establish a compensation policy and levels consistent with review of overall compensation budget and philosophy of Board
  • Provide fiscal oversight for TBC investments, budgets, and financial reporting
  • Propose annual budgets for TBC operations and programmatic activities
  • Monitor monthly financial transactions
  • Report regularly to the Board on financial status

Program Activities

  • Provide oversight and guidance on the development of new programs and program areas
  • Convene and lead staff discussions regarding strategic, operational, and tactical issues

Representation

  • Advance the mission and image of Travel Butler County by serving as the chief representative of Travel Butler County to all stakeholders including the organization’s Board, Butler County Commissioners, staff, members, partners, the media, local communities and general public
  • Develop and monitor the Travel Butler County communication strategy for external positioning
  • Design and, when appropriate, develop reports, publications, presentations, articles and other communications to disseminate and promote the activities of Travel Butler County

Development

  • Lead TBC destination development activities
  • Identify and develop new destination development opportunities, develop partnerships, collaborations and seek sources for new revenues.

Board Responsibilities

  • Report regularly to the Board on the activities of Travel Butler County and progress toward meeting strategic objectives
  • Ensure that Board members are kept up-to-date on best practices on TBC management and leadership
  • Identify issues and policies that require the attention of the Board
  • Assist the Board in the development of strategic objectives

Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • The President/CEO will have extensive experience in the management of organizations of comparable size and mission and possess sufficient expertise on issues relevant to Travel Butler County to make well-informed mission-related decisions and command the confidence and respect of stakeholders necessary to serve as the leader of Travel Butler County.
  • The President/CEO will typically have a minimum of 5-10 years of leadership experience; an advanced degree or equivalent experience; plus strong planning, interpersonal, communications, and networking skills.
