Travel industry professionals met with approximately 35 state representatives and senators on Wednesday, May 23 during the Ohio Tourism Works Legislative Day. This day-long statehouse event is coordinated by the Ohio Travel Association, Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association and the Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
"This is a really important day for making sure your elected officials know what matters most to your business and to other businesses in their district's travel economy," says Melinda Huntley, Ohio Travel Association executive director. "When constituents tell their stories, it is a powerful tool for creating change."
The day started with discussions about the key issues led by Huntley, Andy Herf (OACVB) and Joe Savarise (OHLA). Attendees had time to ask questions and to hear tips for communicating during their appointments. All registered attendees had appointments scheduled throughout the day before legislators and industry members gathered at the Capital Club for an evening reception.
