It’s difficult to think of the unthinkable. Yet we must do more than just think about it; we must prepare. Many of you work in venues, businesses and events where people gather. It’s vital to properly prepare you and your staff to ensure the safety of guests, visitors and your staff.
Register for training from patrol and SWAT deputies who are passionate about what it takes to keep you safe. Learn about the history and prevalence of active shooter events. Educate yourself and your business about the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues and drills. This training is a must-attend for any business that runs an event, hosts guests or is responsible for overseeing employees.
This special travel industry training is hosted by the Ohio Travel Association. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course – designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004 – provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving and managing an active shooter event. Be sure to invite others in your community or at your place of business, including those who manage guest services, operations and safety.
NEW ADDITION!
OTA Crisis Communications Training 101
Are You Ready?
It’s something we hope will never happen, but in today’s world Ohio tourism destinations need to be prepared for the worse. From active shooters and bomb threats to accidental injury or death, is your destination ready to respond?
How an organization or company reacts to a crisis in the first hour will shape the next few hours or days of the crisis response. It can separate the leaders from the pack, shape public perception and affect the future of a travel destination.
Inspire PR’s Hinda Mitchell and Katie Sabatino will lead an interactive training and discussion to talk about the high-likelihood and high-impact scenarios that Ohio tourism destinations face and how best to navigate them through thoughtful communications preparedness and response.
