Position Title: Sales Manager

The purpose of this position is to generate new sales in all identified group sectors to Stark County by executing a variety of sales activities and initiatives.

The basic functions and major activities which must be performed to carry out the purpose of the position include:

Attend sales trade shows and marketplaces to generate leads in the markets of associations, social, fraternal, group tours, and any other identified sales markets
Collaborate with the Event Service Manager to execute RFPs, generate itineraries, plan site
inspections, create lead lists, and maintain sales database
Execute planned sales missions, FAMS, site inspections, and sales calls for multiple sales markets
Manage sales leads and continue to cultivate current and new client relationships
Coordinate with the Event Services Manager in facilitating event service needs including
transportation, information displays, volunteer and street team coordination
Coordinate and maintain sales reports for Visit Canton in cooperation with the Event Service Manager

Qualifications required to perform the duties of this position, include:

Excellent sales skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills: must establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
In-depth organizational skills: demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
Competence in all Microsoft Office products
Computer skills: iDss database management, Internet (web sites)
Schedule flexibility – be available for off-hours events.
In-depth oral communication skills: stand-up presentation skills.
Broad knowledge of the hospitality/tourism industry.
Minimum of 3 years of outside or direct sales experience
Bachelor’s degree in communication, business, marketing or another related field experience

Work Environment, Physical Requirements and Additional Information:

Works primarily in an office environment with long periods of time sitting
Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed for special events

The organization’s mission is to promote travel to Stark County. Visit Canton facilitates operations that support a travel and tourism industry in Stark County that generates $1.8 billion dollars in sales.
