Marketing Manager

Experience Columbus

Reports to: Marketing Director

Summary:

To develop, implement and maintain marketing strategies and activities in direct support of the tourism and membership efforts of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Experience Columbus’ contracted publications, including the semi-annual Visitor Guide with inserted Visitors Map and annual Tour Planner Guide:
  • Manage publisher relationship and contracting.
  • Provide editorial direction on content development. Collaborate cross-departmentally on content that is relevant and supports strategic positioning.
  • Edit, review and approve all materials, including working with appropriate staff, as necessary.
  • Monitor production and delivery processes.
  • Promote advertising opportunities.
  1. Develop and manage sales materials and collateral for Leisure Group Tour:
  • Develop sales materials to distinguish Columbus as a destination of choice and position Experience Columbus’ sales team as best-in-class.
  • Develop materials to support production goals. These may include sales presentations, bid book, sell sheets, maps, flyers, itineraries, advertising value added items and others.
  • Expand and develop marketing platforms to promote experiential tourism.
  • Produce and deploy newsletter/s and emails.
  • Write copy, as needed.
  • Manage production of marketing materials with in-house graphic designer or outside vendors.
  • Update materials to maintain accuracy and freshness.
  1. Support individual Leisure Tourism efforts:
    • In conjunction with the VP, Marketing, provide marketing support for individual leisure campaign which may include writing copy, editing materials, obtaining photos, and working with the advertising agency.
    • Working with the VP, Tourism and Director, Interactive Marketing, provide support for various Columbus trails.
    • Provide support for CTA and EDD programs.
    • Responsible for Visitor Center materials, images, collateral.
    • For Columbus (Central Region), collect/edit listing information and provide images and copy for Featured Events and Festivals for the annual Arts In Ohio Travel Planner
  1. Develop and manage materials and collateral for Membership Department:
  • Consult and assist the membership department with marketing programs to support sales production and retention.
  • Produce/manage production of sales and marketing tools (e.g. invitations, sales campaigns, retention materials, orientation handbook, etc.).
  • In collaboration with the membership department, curate content and deploy weekly member e-newsletter.
  • Collaborate on content with membership and communications to deploy monthly corporate partner e-newsletter.
  • Represent marketing/communications/interactive at quarterly new member orientation.
  • Oversee promotional support programs with and for members.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage the productivity of marketing plans and projects.
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results.
  • Manage a variety of maps for the organization.
  • Produce a regular (monthly or bi-monthly) events hot card for local distribution to enhance knowledge of the city’s pulse.
  • Working with the VP, Marketing, coordinate and manage production of image/brand implementations with community partners such as the airport.
  • Manage marketing relationships with external partners, including transportation, attractions, arts and culture, sports, etc.
  • Manage group welcomes/calendar of events feed on screens at the Columbus airport with the help of the Online Content Editor.
  • Act as back-up for the calendar of events (behind online content manager).
  • Attend Experience Columbus and member functions, as necessary.
  • Facilitate CTA classes when available.

Education and Experience:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, public relations or related field required. 
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in marketing development and management required.
  • The organization requires all employees to obtain and maintain their Certified Tourism Ambassador™ (CTA) designation.

  • Demonstrated writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Possess team orientation and ability to work collaboratively
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the Internet
  • Graphic design skills desirable; knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a plus
