AAA OHIO AUTO CLUB JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:  Vice President, Marketing (Exempt)

REPORTS TO:  Executive Vice President

LOCATION:  AAA Ohio Auto Club Headquarters, Worthington, OH

PURPOSE:  The Vice President, Marketing is responsible for developing and deploying Ohio Auto Club’s membership, automotive, road side service, insurance, partnership programs and travel marketing strategies and tactical initiatives, as well as brand equity, digital marketing design and content, safety traffic programs, public relations, government affairs, member publications, and marketing supplier relations.  This position is responsible for leading the Marketing Team consisting of two Senior Marketing Managers; Senior Manager eBusiness; Senior Public Relations Manager; and Editor and Publisher, Home and Away.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Leads the development and deployment of marketing strategies and tactics that directly support the long-range strategies and annual objectives to grow membership.
  2. Translates business line strategies and objectives into actionable marketing strategies and tactics to support profitable growth.
  3. Provides strategic and day-to-day leadership to the Marketing team with an emphasis on high performance levels, productivity, and collaboration at all levels. Provides associates with the authority, accountability, training, information and resources to achieve their full potential.
  4. Analyzes membership, market and consumer data, pricing strategies, customer segmentation and competitive intelligence to enhance brand equity. Develops strategies and tactics that support brand awareness and growth.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Leads the club’s traffic safety advocacy programs, government affairs, and community outreach initiatives.
  2. Ensures consistency in messaging through all communication channels; web, mobile and social media design and content, media, community outreach, publications, direct mail, literature, and trade show presence.
  3. Leads the development and execution of organization-wide marketing initiatives to facilitate the distribution of clear and positive messages to associates, members, and the community.
  4. Leads data driven assessments of marketing tactics to ensure return on investment.
  5. Establishes and reports marketing key performance indicators to senior management team and business line partners.
  6. Evaluates marketing tactics on an ongoing basis to ensure achievement of goals. Collaborates with business line leaders to identify necessary modifications to ensure goal attainment.
  7. Maintains positive working relationships with representatives of AAA National, AAA Clubs across the association, and business line preferred partners.
  8. Develops the annual Marketing plan and corresponding budget and manages to that budget by monitoring expenses, staffing, financial and marketing metrics.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & SPECIFIC ABILITIES:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Minimum ten (10) years marketing management experience.
  3. A track record of driving brand equity in consumer market.
  4. A deep knowledge of and proficiency in all forms of marketing tactics.
  5. Publication planning and production knowledge.
  6. Advertising, print and broadcast media knowledge.
  7. Consumer marketing research, data analysis and methodology knowledge.
  8. Strong leadership capabilities with proven track record of building and sustaining high performing teams.
  9. Experience creating brand and marketing content across multiple applications, channels and business lines.
  10. Strong negotiation skills with a record of favorable outcomes.
  11. Strategic mind set with ability to dead day to day issues.
  12. Advanced planning capabilities coupled with exceptional financial and analytical skills.
  13. Strong decision making skills and the ability to link business objectives to business activities.
  14. Impeccable interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to audience and situation.
  15. Ability to develop short and long term plans and objectives.
  16. Ability to work with executive management and the Board of Directors.
  17. Flexibility, creativity, critical thinking, and a positive approach to work.
  18. Ability to work within established deadlines and budgets.
