Visitor Outreach Coordinator

Visit Canton

The overall purpose of this position is to assist the Executive Vice President of Marketing & Communications in all aspects of the organization’s visitor outreach marketing, visitor information services, and visitor inquiry data and customer relationship management.

The basic function and major activities which must be performed to carry out the purpose of the position, include:

  • Assist with operations, maintenance, staff and scheduling for Visit Canton's existing visitor centers; Downtown Canton Visitor Center and provide training & support for the Akron Canton Airport Visitor Information Center
  • Assist with upgrades, expansions and improvement opportunities for existing and new visit center locations
  • Facilitate response to visit inquiries, fulfillment of visitor information requests, oversight of bulk mail, data management and customer relationship management
  • Assist with development and delivery of visitor information resources including travel guides, brochures, maps, and explore boards
  • Oversee the Visit Canton Volunteer corps including Enshrinement Week Guest Services committee
  • Execute promotional street team and Pigskin appearances for visitor information booths, utilizing a combination of staff, interns, and volunteers as needed
  • Work closely with the Event Sales Coordinator in assisting to provide event services as requested by clients
  • Monitor event supplies and promotional items inventory
  • Coordinate intern program project and event schedule

Qualification required to perform the duties of this position, include:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or similar field or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, retail, or similar customer-focused role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Preferred experience in database management, data maintenance, or CRM software
  • Flexible availability to fill shifts at visitor information centers and work information booths at special events as needed including nights and weekends
  • Ability to maintain composure and communicate with the public in emergency situations
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, work in outdoor environment, lift/carry/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Availability for occasional travel required for conferences, tradeshows, special events, and educational opportunities

**This position will have some evening and weekend activities and will have flexibility in schedule to accommodate these special events and non-traditional hours.
