Sales Assistant

Experience Columbus

Reports To: Director, Sales Operations

FLSA/Status: Non Exempt/Full Time (40+ hours)

Location: Arena District office, Columbus

Compensation: up to $23.50 per hour

What you will accomplish:

Achieve the organization’s sales goals by directly supporting multiple sales managers to bring convention visitors to Columbus. You will assist the team that prospects and brings in potential clients to visit Columbus and see what we can offer to their convention experience. Being a collaborative work environment, you will also work on projects and gather information through partnering or interacting with Experience Columbus or Sports Commission team members, community businesses, and current and potential clients.

We support the travel and tourism industry in providing jobs, bringing in tax dollars for the improvement of services and infrastructure, and attracting facilities like restaurants, shops, festivals, and cultural and sporting venues that cater to both visitors and Columbus locals.

Daily responsibilities may include activities such as:

  1. Finalize and distribute convention sales leads and all documents related to processing pending and definite business:
    • Prepare and coordinate documents necessary for bid process including creating bid books.
    • Contact partners to follow-up on lead responses and verifications.
  2. Assist with all pre/post activities related to trade shows, sales trips, client site inspection or familiarization (FAM) visits
    • Compile and distribute agendas.
    • Book client airfare, lodging and meal reservations.
    • Compile and deliver client amenity to hotel.
    • Coordinate or assist in airport pick-ups and drop-offs, (if using a personal vehicle, then mileage will be reimbursed).
  3. Maintain accurate data in Customer Relational Database (CRM) and the industry database (MINT)
  4. Team support and administrative tasks:
    • Submit managers' expense reports.
    • Coordinate mass mailings.
    • Coordinate sales manager schedules
    • Manage inventory and re-stock promotional materials.
    • Run errands for client gifts and event supplies. (Personal costs are covered including, mileage, Uber/Lyft, spin, etc.)

  • Able to work in the Arena District office as well as travel to other downtown locations and sites as needed.
  • Able to occasionally attend client and Experience Columbus functions as requested. These events occasionally occur in the evening and rarely over the weekend.
  • Passionate about the product (Columbus) and the community
  • Interested in continually learning about differences and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the community.
  • Travel, Tourism or Hospitality industry experience a plus!
