Leisure Sales and Content Marketing Specialist

WHO WE ARE

Destination Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau, a not-for-profit enterprise, is the official Destination
Marketing Organization (DMO) for Lucas County and the greater Toledo region. Staffed with an enthusiastic team of Toledo experts, Destination Toledo’s core mission is to attract meeting, convention and tourism business to the Toledo area.

POSITION SUMMARY

Destination Toledo is seeking a detail-oriented, creative and self-motivated Leisure Sales and Content
Marketing Specialist to join our team. This position focuses on the creating, coordinating and marketing of visitor experiences with the goal of increasing leisure/transient overnight stays in the Toledo region. This person will work directly with attraction and hotel partners to curate experiences for the visitor and strategically market these experiences in the most effective way to generate overnight stays, attraction, and dining sales. This position will report to the Marketing Manager and work closely with the Director of Group Sales and Relationship Management to make reporting-based decisions to drive leisure sales through creative marketing solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Tourism, or equivalent
    experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Social media marketing experience
  • Can work well independently and in a collaborative team setting
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while producing quality work
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom,
    Premiere
  • Web CMS experience
  • Knowledge of Toledo area, events, and local attractions

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Day-to-day responsibilities may include but are not limited to developing itineraries, travel
    packages, experience passes, influencer experiences and more.
  • Beginning-to-end development and marketing of packages or other leisure initiatives created to
    increase overnight stays.
  • Develop content to best fit the marketing of travel packages, experience passes etc. such as
    photos, blogs, social media posts, short videos (TikToks, Reels).
  • Contribute on special projects and initiatives such as the annual official Visitors Guide, 419 Ale
    Trail and Great Lake Erie Birding Trail
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners to effectively create packages and promote their
    organizations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Some social media posting and monitoring.
  • Some attendance of evening and weekend events.
