Ohio Capital Budget Applications Open
Eligible community projects include parks and recreation, cultural and sports facilities, and others
The Ohio General Assembly has opened the capital budget process for fiscal years 2027-28. The capital budget occurs every other year and focuses on brick-and-mortar projects funded by state bonds.
These dollars support community projects throughout the state. Past projects have included art and cultural centers, parks and recreation facilities, recreational trails, and a variety of other projects.
Local governments and non-profit organizations interested in submitting a project to be considered should submit the application to their local legislative office by noon on Thursday, March 12. Legislators must then submit their funding requests to their finance committee leadership by Thursday, March 26. Both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate are using the same application form.
This is not a lengthy application, as they encourage brevity. You may also wish to create a one- or two-page project summary with additional details. Be sure to emphasize the project’s public benefits.
